ROAD TRIP - OUR ODYSSEY to the AMERICAN NORTHWEST - DAY #2

We pulled into Meridian, Idaho around 4pm PST, road weary and exhausted.  A quick swim in my uncle and aunt’s community pool refreshed the muscles and the soul.  The landscape is a vibrant green, flat like Kansas, but off in the distance we viewed some mountains peeking out of the distance.  Supposedly, in the winter, snow ski resorts aren’t too far away.
It seems like the neighborhoods are straight out of “Desperate Housewives” with everyone’s lawn and front yard perfectly manicured and decorated with a wide variety of  flowers, vines, and trees.  Apparently, the lawns are watered with run-off irrigation and the costs per homeowner for using this water is minimal - I heard something ridiculous like $20/year.  What a novel idea to use “dirty” water to irrigate lawns.  California should adopt something similar.  We pay a steep price to water grass and flower beds.
